Compostable PLA products

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a very unique material since it is made from corn based resins and not from petroleum. This makes PLA non-toxic and a renewable resource.

These packaging materials are BPI biodegradable certified which are independently tested and verified according to scientifically based standards.

How to compost BPI biodegradable packaging

PLA is currently compostable in industrial facilities only and not suitable for backyard compost bins. At industrial compost facilities, PLA will be exposed to heat and moisture so that it can be broken down into small organic compounds faster.

Life Cycle

PLA is a 100% natural and compostable material. If it finds its way into the environment and oceans it will naturally breakdown. The amount of time will depend on the conditions the material has been exposed to. Typically in compost facilities, it will take between 90 to 180 days to fully degrade.  

It will not cause any toxicity, toxic gas, or environmental pollution not to mention it is a completely renewable resource!
